It’s when a senior looks at their photos and says, “These are exactly what I wanted!” That feeling? That’s what I’m going for every single time! Your senior photos should feel like you – authentic, unique, and full of personality.
But how do we make that happen? Let me share some of my favorite ways to make your session one-of-a-kind.
1) Location, Location, Location!
This is the biggest factor in making your senior photos feel true to who you are. While we can definitely hit up some iconic Chicago spots (if that’s your vibe), I love when we dig a little deeper to find locations that truly tell your story.
Think about it:
- The coffee shop where you and your friends hang out every weekend
- That hidden mural you discovered while exploring the city
- Your favorite bookstore where you spend way too much time
- A quiet park that feels like your little escape from the busy city
Choosing locations that matter to you makes the session feel personal – and adds a unique twist to your photos.
2) Incorporate Your Passions
What do you love doing? What makes you you? Let’s incorporate that into your senior photos! Whether it’s a hobby, a sport, or something you’re just known for — let’s make it part of your session. This is kind of my jam as a Chicago senior photographer!
- Always skateboarding around the city? Bring your board!
- A guitarist at heart? Let’s get some shots with your guitar.
- Debate team captain? Why not start at your school?
- Soccer fanatic? Bring your cleats and jersey!
The possibilities are endless because your story is uniquely yours. So, let’s show it off!
3) Wear What Makes You Feel Amazing
I’m always here to help with outfit ideas, but my biggest advice? Wear what feels like you! Whether that’s your favorite vintage finds, your go-to athletic gear, or that dress you’ve been saving for a special occasion – if it feels good, it looks good.
Think about mixing it up:
- One outfit that’s dressy and shows your polished side
- One that’s more laid-back, capturing your everyday vibe
- And maybe even something that highlights your passion or hobby
Your style should feel natural and comfortable – because when you feel good, it shows in the photos!
4) Make It Personal
The best part? No two sessions are the same because no two high school seniors are the same! I love getting to know you, hearing your ideas, and working together to make your vision come to life. Your senior photos should be a reflection of you – your interests, your style, your personality. That’s what makes them special!
