Preparing for your senior photo session can be exciting – but it can also feel a little overwhelming, especially when it comes to choosing your outfits. If you’re wondering what to wear or how to pick the right looks, don’t worry – I’ve got you covered!
When you book a session with me, I’m here to help you every step of the way, including outfit planning. But to get you started, here are three ways to prepare for your Chicago senior photos that will make you look and feel amazing in your senior photos.
1) Stay True to Your Personal Style
This is the most important tip I can give you: be yourself! Your senior photos are a reflection of who you are right now, so stick to your personal style.
Now is not the time to jump on a trend just because it’s popular – especially if it doesn’t feel like you. When you look back at your senior photos years from now, you’ll want to recognize the style that was authentically yours at this moment in time. Whether your vibe is edgy, casual, preppy, or something entirely unique, embrace it!
2) Add Variety to Your Outfits
I recommend multiple outfits, so always make sure each one brings something different to the table. For example, if you’re planning to bring three outfits, don’t bring three black dresses.
Instead, think about variety:
- Choose a mix of colors – some bold, some neutral.
- Try different necklines or silhouettes for visual interest.
- Incorporate a mix of fabrics, like denim, lace, or cotton, to add texture.
This variety will give your photos depth and make each outfit stand out.
3) Think About Movement
One thing you might not think about when planning your outfits is movement – but it’s so important! During your senior session with SBP, you’ll be doing more than just standing still. I’ll ask you to sit, stand, squat, walk, and maybe even skip as we make our way around Chicago!
Make sure every outfit you choose allows you to move comfortably. You’ll want to feel at ease so you can focus on having fun and looking your best in every shot.
