If you’re starting to plan your Chicago senior photos, consider this your go-to cheat sheet for what to embrace and what to avoid. While I walk all of my SBP seniors through a personalized prep experience, a few extra reminders never hurt. The goal is simple… We want you to feel confident, comfortable, and completely yourself in front of the camera.
Let’s get into it!
The Do’s for Your Chicago Senior Photos
Do pack fun outfits
Your outfits set the tone for your Chicago senior session. Think variety, movement, and pieces that feel like you. A mix of casual and dressed up looks always photographs beautifully, and layers or textures can add dimension to your images.
Do glow up your skin
Hydration, rest, and sticking to your normal routine go a long way. This is not the time to experiment. Your natural glow is always the goal, and a little extra care leading up to your session makes a difference.
Do laugh it out
You don’t need to know how to pose perfectly. That’s my job! The magic happens in the in-between moments, the laughter, the movement, the genuine reactions. Come ready to have fun and trust the process.
Do bring comfy shoes
Between walking to locations and moving around the city, having a comfortable pair of shoes on hand is a must. We can always switch into your cute shoes when it’s time.
Do snack first
This might sound small, but trust me, it matters! A quick snack before your session keeps your energy up and helps you feel your best from start to finish.
Do bring your hype squad
One or two people who lift you up can make your session even more fun. Think best friend, mom, or someone who makes you laugh. Just keep it small so the focus stays on you.
Do be you
This is your season. Your session should reflect who you are right now, not who you think you’re supposed to be. The most meaningful images always come from authenticity.
The Don’ts for Your Senior Session
Don’t rock crazy prints
Super busy patterns can distract from you. Instead, lean toward solids, subtle textures, or simple prints that complement your overall look.
Don’t try new products
Whether it’s skincare or makeup, stick with what you know works. The last thing you want is an unexpected reaction right before your session.
Don’t overthink poses
You don’t need to practice in the mirror. I’ll guide you every step of the way so you feel natural and confident, promise!
Don’t break in new heels
Blisters are not part of the plan. If you’re bringing heels, make sure they’re already comfortable or have that backup pair of shoes ready.
Don’t show up hangry
We’ve already covered snacks, but it’s worth repeating. Feeling good physically helps you show up relaxed and ready.
Don’t invite your whole class
Too many people can make things feel overwhelming. Keeping your group small helps you stay present and focused.
Don’t be a copycat
It’s great to gather inspiration, but your session should reflect you, not someone else. We’ll create something that feels true to your style and story. That’s my jam!
