I feel so lucky to be a Chicago family photographer. This city truly has everything you could dream of! City views, water, beautiful parks, and the best skyline — but most importantly, we have the best people!

There are what feels like a million different photo locations in Chicago to choose from. We’re fortunate to have so many gems scattered throughout the city! When it comes to choosing a location for your family photos, I have three go-to spots in Chicago that I love to recommend.

Your Home

I love capturing family photos in a client’s home! Little kids are always more comfortable in their own space, so I often recommend in-home sessions for families with young children. We can shoot inside or outside, and these sessions tend to feel more personal and connected. I know, you might worry that your house is a mess, but I promise — it’s okay! These photos capture you and your family in this season of life, and they don’t need to be perfect.

Another concern clients often have is lighting. Don’t worry about having a ton of natural light! I’ll find the best light in your home, and we’ll schedule the session to take full advantage of it.

I love welcoming families to my studio! The light is always consistent, and — although I may be biased — it’s absolutely gorgeous. If you want a more modern look and feel for your family photos, the studio is the perfect place. With white walls, wooden floors, and a neutral, clean look, it offers a blank slate for your session. Plus, the studio is stocked with different seamless backdrops, adding variety if you want to do something completely different!

One of the first questions I’ll ask when planning your family session is: where do you live? I love finding a park near your home for photos. For the most successful family session, we want to minimize time in the car — especially with little kids! Maybe there’s a park in your neighborhood where your kids play every day, or a spot where you love taking walks as a family. Let’s find an outdoor location that holds meaning for you!

If you’re looking for specific recommendations, my top three parks to shoot at in Chicago are Winnemac Park, Olive Park, and Indian Boundary Park.

This helps me get to know you better, understand what’s important to you, and incorporate those details into your session. While I have countless photo locations in Chicago that I can suggest, the most special ones are the places that mean something to you and your family in this season of life. Sometimes, the locations aren’t picture-perfect — and that’s okay! They hold meaning, and that’s where the magic happens.

let's tell your story

I've photographed every personality type — the shy ones, the hams, the "I hate photos" crowd, all of them.

I know how to find what makes someone tick and pull it right into the frame. The goal is never a perfect pose.

It's a photo that looks so undeniably like you that you can't stop staring at it.
